With our growing understanding of neuroscience and its links to movement, we understand more about the effect of the words and cues we use with people. Persuasion, guidance and unlocking a persons fearless movement rely on the plasticity of the brain more than the body. This “kick off” to the day will ensure you are thinking about all the moves you do, and how you were encouraged. Some science, some thoughtfulness and pilates philosophising.
STEVE AND GILL WRIGLEY - THE HIP ESSENTIALS FOR PILATES TEACHERS - LECTURE
(Available Session 2,6)
Take a trip around the hips with this great interactive lecture session. Two great physios and pilates teachers take you through a very relevant and functional journey. These guys know hips and have been taking people through active cutting edge rehabilitation for years with both high level active young and older populations. Not just NHS, but sport and military rehabilitation too. Learn about key hip tissue and anatomy pointers, common dysfunctions and surgical procedures. Relevant pilates assessments and how to use that information for effective movement teaching.
There is an optional, practical follow on session, that goes through common moves with key cues and interpretations along with new moves for common issues.
STEVE AND GILL WRIGLEY - HIP ESSENTIALS - THE MOVES
(Available Session 3,7)
A class that takes you through essential hip joint moves with the combined moves of the body to ensure great integrated function and awareness. Some progressions for rehabilitation and key focus points when trying to achieve a flowing, stable hip region.
The aim is to give you even more ideas for the hip region and understand why you would use them. This class is a continuation of the earlier class, however, it's not essential to have attended in order to be apart of this session.
NICKY SMITH - NO SUCH THING AS AN ANKLE SPRAIN - LECTURE

As the most commonly injured peripheral joint, the ankle is often a recurring issue for people and/or a precursor to other injuries both local and remote.
Nicky uses her experience and advanced knowledge to take you on an anatomical, bio-mechanical and neuro-muscular analysis of the joint; a review of common types of injuries and latest research in the prevention and cure.
A clinical reasoning approach to identifying functional problems with the ankle and related structures and strategies to consider in the rehabilitation of this area and its whole body connections relevant to the Pilates teacher.
This will be a practical interactive presentation.
AGI FALENTA - MAGIC CIRCLE MAT

Agi will inspire you with a magic circle led class on the mat focussing on using this prop to improve and develop your mat work targeting the essential areas of awareness, strengthening and lengthening while we will challenge our balance, stability, mobility and coordination. Work yourself and find new inspiration for your classes.
JOAKIM VALSINGER - LESS IS MORE ON THE MAT

Pilates is so beautiful in its simplicity. Many other forms of exercise try to up the ante by shifting more weight faster for more repetitions. Pilates allows you to go smaller, resist less, do fewer repetitions and often slower which helps clients find a true challenge - whatever their level of ability may be.
In this workshop Joakim looks at exercises you are already familiar with and shows you how to make slight changes for a big impact. Get ready to work if you are fit, get set to take one step closer to recovery if you are nursing an injury.

BILL TAYLOR - PELVIC FLOOR ESSENTIALS - RELEVANT FUNCTION AND DYSFUNCTION AND PILATES - LECTURE

The Pelvic floor has been recognised more and more for its important integral part in both the functions of controlling bladder, reproduction organs and bowels, but also how it is integrated into spinal, hip and breathing health. We know much more about its normal functions and dysfunctions, plus importantly how they present, often masquerading as back, hip and abdominal pain or other sensations.
Physiotherapy management of these functions are now more recognised and the release of overactivity and subsequent reintegration of muscle action into the overall movement patterns of the pelvic region is better understood and taught.
Pilates has the opportunity to be part of the appropriate management and education of the integrated pelvic floor. Pilates instructors should be aware of the most current knowledge to ensure that the movement integration they teach is optimal.
Bill will summarise current pelvic floor knowledge, review relevant dysfunctions and illustrate relevant movement management that specialist pelvic physiotherapists do and the relevance to the pilates teacher both in understanding of this and how they continue with promoting a healthy pelvic floor function as part of there practice.
MAX STOHR & CINZIA GALLETTO - MOTR - THE MOVES AND INNOVATIONS

Max and Cinzia will introduce you to the MOTR and then they will take you through a class that gives you an all around Pilates workout. You will experience the versatility and amazing feedback that this influential piece of equipment gives. The MOTR is “More Than a Roller.” With the addition of an extension arm and resistance units, this piece of equipment provides endless options to challenge range of motion, balance and strength. It is appropriate for all levels. MOTR’s versatility offers unlimited programming and limitless results. Improve your strength, balance, agility, sports condition, cardio, and more! Max and Cinzia have been teaching the MOTR for a number of years and they are always finding new ways to use its talents to enhance client's movement. You will experience a class which shows the versatility of the MOTR, how MOTR integrates well with Pilates and of course, you'll get a taste of that Italian flair!
MAX STOHR & CINZIA GALLETTO - FREESTYLE PILATES

A classic Italian recipe from these amazing teachers famous for there ability to weave contemporary and classical into practice. This session involves many Joe Pilates influences - equal parts Pilates, gymnastics, Dance for Health, HipWork and contemporary dance. The goal remains the same, controlled flowing movements. Give yourself and your students some freedom with the learning and experience you get from this session.

The Pilates Rehaber session takes you through a number of client scenarios that have a rehabilitation focus and facilitates you to use your knowledge, critical thinking and planning skills along with Pilates principles, to evolve an intelligent evidence based pilates programme for all clients. All under the guidance of Cameron and Steve who have been doing this for nearly 40 years each as active musculoskeletal physios and Pilates teacher and presenter!
Yes, YOU will have to think, evolve and be flexible in your thinking. This interactive experience will encourage you and the other participants to come up with pilates framed programmes for clients and feel confident as to why you are using it. You personally will come up with a nugget for everyone else too!
Understand and engage the concepts of successful rehabilitation programming in pilates, with people who teach and work in the field, know and teach pilates, love it and live it. The aim is that you understand how to think about and structure your movement programmes to be effective and not just use a recipe. Feel empowered, enthused and confident.
MICHAEL KING - PURE PILATES MATWORK

This session looks at using modified Pilates movements designed in a session which allows mixed ability groups to find their level of movement and achieve quality of movement. Focus on the teaching of the principles of the method and using breath as a tool to challenge or help the movement. A perfect session for large groups at conventions and with mixed ability sessions.

Come explore the possibilities with this workshop of taking the Pilates principles and variations of the original moves to new choreographic variations. Reaching the ultimate goal of improving people’s posture by challenging them off the mat in standing variations.

An Experiential exploration of Kathy Grants Before the Hundred Repertory
This mat work class we will explore the work of Kathleen Stanford Grant. Kathy developed a series of exercises she called “Before the Hundred”. These exercises are like a kinetic ABC of movement. Once learned, they develop the fundamental movements that form the foundation of good biomechanical function which is the basis of a true Pilates Practice.
Kathy developed this work through her life to allow her students to explore the options available to their bodies. If you explore, practice and learn these movements you will discover and develop a level of ease and strength within you body that is both empowering and a huge relief from the challenges modern life makes on our posture. Using these movements as cues when teaching give you and your clients a language that you can use to improve your cueing and teaching as well as empowering your students by giving them the tools to refine and develop their own practice.
Alycea Ungaro has described Pilates as a glass of water.... you may want the occasional pick me up espresso or kick box class..... and sometimes want a relaxing camomile tea or yoga Nidra session ..... but every day you need to drink water.
These movements are true hydration for the mechanics of your body this is your daily dose of bio-mechanical hydration. Please note this is an experiential class.

Cameron will introduce a case study of M. A client who came with spinal “issues”.
He will guide you through “The Pilates Rehaber” approach to listening, evaluating and forming a relevant rehabilitation approach based on Pilates Principles. Get some insights into current science approaches, the scary stories our clients get and how to use exercise and words to give them a fearless movement life.

Experiencing the Reformer repertoire in a different dimension by using a Roller. The unstable surface of the Roller challenges your core and shoulder stability, for example during footwork. It will help you concentrate even better to work from the inside out, while keeping your focus on lumbopelvic stability as the carriage moves. Feet in straps will be a totally different experience with more focus and stability as well.
Think of the Roll Down series while on the Roller, armwork and even Swan on the roller…it will challenge not just your lumbopelvic and shoulder stability, but your balance as well. It will help you to control the focus and stay centered while working with the Roller on the Reformer.

Legs, arms, standing , kneeling twisting, the list goes on. This session will be taught by teachers very experienced requipment teachers, who love and know the machine, teach teachers the reformer and are happy to do the basics and evolve the moves. You will get basics, exploration of progressions, matwork origins and some unique perspectives. Rock, Roll, pull, push and lengthen as you fall in love with the Reformer.

The Wunda Chair is a great apparatus that challenges your Powerhouse, pelvic- and shoulderstability, balance and strength. As it’s such an important apparatus to work on while standing, sitting and kneeling, I converted these movements to the mat with the help of the Magic Circle/Pilates Ring.
The magic circle/ring will provide the needed resistance and feedback to mimic the different movement and balance challenges you would normally do with the Wunda Chair.
This way, you can introduce some Chair exercises to your mat sequence during private or group settings if you don’t have a Wunda Chair. For example, standing leg pumps, Washer woman (hamstring stretch), arm presses etc. Want to experience the variety of the Magic circle and are you up for a balance challenge? Join me in this creative and fun workout.

Working with common and innovative moves to accurately and effectively show the reformers ability to aid connection in multi tissue and true 3D moves.
Whether you use the reformer regularly or are new to it, this session is ideal. Camerons “Reformed” sessions have sparked new work on the reformer around the world. You will go away with enhance shoulder knowledge and inspiration you can translate to the mat or keep on the reformer.

JENNY TYLER - PILATES WITH A TWIST

It forever surprises me that even with the level of sport that I work with I very often come across an elite level thrower, golfer or racquet sport player who has very poor rotation or just doesn’t know how to access their movement potential. In this highly practical workshop we’ll be rotating spines, rotating shoulders, rotating hips! Top to bottom, bottom to top and counter rotation. From the building blocks of basic rotation to challenging exercises for elite level performance - unleash your inner athlete and let’s twist!
